Hunting and Fishing

Trout season opens soon in Wisconsin as we look forward to another great season of brown trout fishing on the North Fork of the Bad Axe River which runs 1.4 miles through the center of Romance Valley Farm in the Driftless Area (Coulee Region) of the midwest which has been called the "Montana of the Midwest" (but without the crowds)!
We have worked with the Natural Resources Conservation Services (NRCS) and Environmental Quality Incentives(EQUIP) on a cost sharing program (spending over $105,000 in addition to much "in kind" work)  on bank stabilization and the installation of 23 lunker sites during (2005-2005).

The Mississippi River which is very close has excellent walleye and other fishery.  There are many other spring creeks within a short distance of our stream.

Spring turkey season is underway and we are hearing lots of evidence of a great season ahead as there is an abundance of turkeys in this area.
The local trapper found mink, muskrats, beavers, mink and ermine this past fall as he seems to do every year.
Bow season starts in September where you can see additional pictures on our sons blog in Minnesota (the009bucks.com) under " Romance Valley Farm" as he is a passionate bow hunter and hunts both Wisconsin and Minnesota.    We have 8 permanent stands plus several portables with names such a Sherpa, Octopussy, Everest and more so the hunters know which one is which! Gun season lasts for 10 days in November.  You can see from the pictures, trophy "Boone ad Crocket" deer hunting results as our practice of Quality Deer Management is a success.
